That is Thos Shipley, a jazz vocalist, recording artist and entertainer whose performances are worldwide. In the New York club scene, Thos has performed at various jazz venues such as Iridium and Upstairs at Green Street where he opened for future star comedians Mario Cantone and Joy Behar. Before long, he rose to new heights, performing an SRO concert in the Weill at Carnegie Hall, playing the Spoleto Festival and performing in a one-man Off-Broadway show, "Broadway Goes Jazz." His first New York review by Bob Harrington of the NEW YORK POST hailed Thos Shipley as “On The Way To Stardom.” Internationally, he has performed in Nantes, France at La Nuit Du Jazz, Harry’s International in Singapore and in the famous Gregory’s Jazz in Rome Italy. Thos Shipley earned him much acclaim by his Italian fans resulting in several appearance included the 2016 headline performer and an award at Isola del Liri’s “ In Music Arte” festival. Mr. Shipley is a 5-time MAC award winner (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) for Outstanding Jazz Vocalist and was discovered by Leslie Uggams who presented him in solo performances in Atlantic City and New York. From Broadway. To Producer. And Philanthropist. One of Mr. Shipley’s artistic accomplishments was understudying the role of John in the Broadway Cast of Miss Saigon. Besides his live performances, Thos launched the NYC premiere of his newly produced show, “Unforgettable: A Tribute to the Jazz great Nat King Cole” to a sold-out audience at the legendary Metropolitan Room. He has also given back to his community of Roselle Park, as a volunteer for “Roselle Park Arts!” producing their Jazz Fest! He is also proud to have launched Roselle Park 24/7 with his husband Joe DeIorio. The Roselle Park 24/7 program is an initiative of Roselle 24/7 Inc., an IRS 501(c)3 focused on the needs of Roselle Park, especially those involving music and the arts. A Jazz Point of View His CD is entitled “My Favorite Things” a remarkable collection from the classic American Songbook intermingled with fine contemporary songwriting, brought to life from a jazz point of view. He graduated with an Associate Degree in electronics engineering technology from the Ohio Institute of Technology, and studied acting, dance and theater at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in New York.
